Cancer is a complex set of diseases that can arise in any cell of the body capable of evading normal regulatory mechanisms. It typically affects the functioning of multiple body systems. Improvements in understanding the biology of cancer have resulted in substantial changes in its prevention, detection, and treatment in recent years.
This course is mainly designed for professionals with a medical and biomedical background who would like to understand more about the fundamental cancer traits.
During this course, you’ll learn in-depth information about the structure and function of normal cells and cancer cells. We will teach you to understand the behavior of cancer cells vs. non-cancerous cells with a particular focus on molecular and cell biology. For example, you will learn about the cell structure, cell cycle and division, different mutations, oncogenes and protooncogenes, biologic hallmarks of cancer, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of cancers.
In this course, we use different educational materials and opportunities to interact online alongside more traditional teaching methods. For example, we offer face-to-face teaching sessions, online lectures, live tutorials, and discussion forums. Moreover, we provide the students with the necessary online materials that they can assess at any time through the course. This facilitates self-study and progression as well as allows the student to study remotely.
At the end of the course, you’ll gain a certificate of attendance at the end of the course.
You’ll use web-based online material to provide you with the appropriate theoretical background of the main themes used in the course. You should expect to spend about 10 hours studying the online material. The course includes:
